OBU starts swim season with record breaking performances

Oklahoma Baptist men and women swim team start off season at the Hendrix relays with record breaking performances. The men’s team was National Champions last year and the women were National runner-up.  With this being the second year of the program, head coach Samuel Freas is pleased with the performance of the swimmers. Freas said, “It was wonderful to see so many terrific performances. We do not care about times as much as just being great racers. All OBU would have been proud of is how the athletes represented OBU as ‘never give in’ athletes. We are attempting to be a "Christ-centered team" and He was with us at the Hendrix relays.” The team has national and international goals for this year. Some of the athletes have competed for their countries at international levels and have the talent to be one of the best in the world. Freas said, “The goals are to win National Championships and become the 1st NAIA team in over a decade to win both Men and Women Championships the same year. To have swimmers break into the Top 50 of the world and with the Lords help we might just do it.”  The swim teams will be in action again at the Eat Turkey Meet at OCCC, Nov. 15-18.
